Adirondack's
The classic Adirondack chair or Cape Cod has been gracing the lawns of holiday homes for more than a century. Thomas Lee designed the very first Adirondack chair in 1903 for his summer home in West Port, New York in the Adirondack Mountains.
The original Adirondack was made with just 11 pieces of wood, cut from a single board and the slanted back and seat allowed for a more comfortable seat in the steep mountains. The other trademark feature of the Adirondack chairs was the wide armrest, perfect for a glass of wine and cheese board.
Ern Cayzer has been tweaking and refining the design of the Adirondack Chairs for the past 10 years. He is passionate about these iconic chairs and is now crafting Adirondack’s exclusively for The Shop @ Waratah Hills. The best quality materials are used and Ern can have the classic Adirondack assembled in record time. Waratah Hills Adirondack chairs are locally made using quality timber.
We think that Thomas Lee would be very
pleased that his humble chair (true to the
original design) is as comfortable in the
vineyards, homes and beach houses of
South Gippslands as it is in the
Adirondack Mountains.
